Because addiction has so many faces and disrupts so many people in different aspects of an individual's life, treatment for this illness is never simple. The Foundation Center of Addington House Drug Rehab Support Center helps the individual stop using drugs and maintain a drug-free lifestyle, creating a positive lifestyle in the family, at work, and in society.

Alcohol Rehab Support

Alcohol Rehab Support centers focus on providing comprehensive drug treatment and Alcohol Rehabilitation services to individuals whose lives have become unmanageable as a result of alcohol addiction. They introduce them to a new lifestyle that is free of alcohol. Alcohol Rehab Support centers are places where an individual who has a drinking problem can receive the help they need.

Alcohol Rehab Support centers work for many people who have problems with alcohol abuse. However, just like any other drug of abuse, the individual has to be committed to make a change for the better. Some people stop drinking and remain sober while others have long periods of sobriety with bouts of relapse. There are also some individuals that cannot stop drinking for any length of time.

Drug Rehab Support

The ultimate goal of a Drug Rehab Support is to enable the individual to achieve lasting abstinence from drug use. The short term goal of a Drug Rehab Support is to help the individual through detox and withdrawal from drugs in addition to improving their ability to function in society again. A Drug Rehab Support will help minimize the medical and social complications of drug abuse.

Patients who stay in a Drug Rehab Support longer than 3 months typically have better outcomes than those who stay less time. Those who go through medically assisted withdrawal to minimize discomfort but do not receive any further rehab, perform about the same in terms of their substance use as those who never attended a Drug Rehab Support. Over the last 25 years, studies have shown that attending a Drug Rehab Support works to reduce drug intake and crimes committed by drug-dependent people. Researchers also have found that drug abusers who have been through a Drug Rehab Support are more likely to have jobs.

Denial Blocks Treatment

There are three kinds of denial that effect the treatment of alcoholics and drug addicts. They are: denial in the community, from family members and loved ones, and finally from the alcoholic and drug addict themselves. The way that denial works is that the addicts and alcoholics find it difficult to stop using. In fact, the thought of abstinence is often frustrating and fearful. Addictive drugs and other substances dull the senses and give the addict and alcoholic a temporary reprieve from their pain. Although the addict and alcoholic give promises and assurances of abstinence, often and freely, many times they are hopelessly under the influence of their drug of choice.

The Foundation Center of Addington House provides effective treatment strategies designed to help sufferers from addictions, such as drug and alcohol abuse, to overcome the process of denial. Often times, families and loved ones are also locked into the web of denial.
