It appeared to Gerald Sidel, after much research into drug and alcohol rehabilitation, that there was a great need for an english drug and alcohol treatment facility in Montreal. Thus, in July of 1990, Le Centre de Rehabilitation Addington House Inc. was created.

The Addington Addiction & Treatment Centre is a residential facility that is equipped to accommodate up to twelve residents at a time for a minimum of twelve weeks, including a third month of transition back into the community. We also offer a two-year after-care program. Our residents are suffering from alcoholism and/or drug addiction.

Addington House is a minimum three-month drug rehab program that services suffering addicts and alcoholics worldwide. It has been in operation since 1990. Addington House's drug rehab program consists of three distinct phases. Once the intense in-house therapy is completed, the resident will need to complete the transitional phase of the rehab program in order to successfully complete the drug rehab program. Once these two phases are effectively completed, then the resident can move into the aftercare phase of the program. While the transitional phase of the drug rehab program focuses on a slow transition back into the community and the family unit, the aftercare phase offers the resident a continuity of care that is sometimes vital in keeping the resident grounded and supported while teaching them to continue to reach out to others in the recovery community as well as to heir families and friends.

Why is Addington House a minimum of three months? While we would like to provide you with a definitive answer of how long you or your loved one will need in our drug rehab program, we cannot. We can tell you that research in the drug rehab field has shown that the longer a person remains in drug rehab, the better their chances of long term recovery.
